Content Guidelines

Effective date: June 19, 2024

Tenfive allows independent creators — journalists, advocates, storytellers, educators, and others — to build communities and businesses. We believe in independent thought and the free flow of ideas. At the same time, we cannot do our job of providing a place for independent creators to thrive and attract subscribers if our product becomes a haven for content that violates the law or norms of decency, or threatens the well-being of others.

Accordingly, we welcome diversity of thought, but there are lines that we will not cross. This document outlines what is considered unacceptable content on Tenfive. Tenfive retains the exclusive right to interpret and enforce these guidelines, and we may modify them at any time, without notice, if doing so is required, in our judgment, to better achieve our mission. In the course of our administration of these guidelines, we may consult third-party experts. If you have questions about these guidelines, or you wish to report content that you believe violates them, you can email us at safety@tenfive.app.

Enforcement of these guidelines may include a range of possible actions, including removing offending content, hiding it, or deactivating the accounts of those who have created or posted it.

You are responsible for the content that you create and publish, and you alone are liable for any harm caused by it.

Legality

Don't publish any content that violates laws or regulations.

Privacy

Don't publish any content that violates others' right to privacy. For example, do not publish anyone's personal email address, home address, work address, or phone number without their express permission. Don't encourage it, and don't threaten it.

Intellectual property and identify

Don't copy anyone else's intellectual property, and do not attempt to pass it off as your own. Don't impersonate any individual or organization either.

Hate

Don't publish discriminatory or bigoted content directed towards any individual or group on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, or medical condition.

Physical harm

Don't threaten or suggest physical harm towards anyone else, including humans and other animals. Don't publish any content that can reasonably be interpreted as inciting or encouraging such physical harm either.

Stripe's Rules

Stripe is our partner for processing payments, and they have their own rules about acceptable customers. If you wish to provide paid subscriptions on Tenfive, please consult the Stripe Service Agreement and Stripe's Prohibited and Restricted Businesses list to ensure you are in compliance.

Nudity and sexual content

Don't post porn or similar content to Tenfive. We do permit depictions of nudity for journalistic purposes, but in all other cases, including profile photos, it is prohibited.

Spam, phishing, and other nuisances

Don't engage in any spam, phishing, or other nuisance-creating activities on Tenfive. For example, if you operate a channel, make sure that every person you invite to subscribe to your channel has opted in to receive email from you. And don't post any comments that are spammy.

Also, don't create any accounts or channels on Tenfive that are intended to circumvent account deactivations, content removals, or any other enforcement of these guidelines. Don't do it to circumvent user-initiated actions (e.g., blocks, mutes, bans) either.
